From Marrakech: 3-Day Merzouga Tour with Camel & Quad Option

This 3-day tour traces one of Morocco's most scenic overland routes, from Marrakech across the High Atlas Mountains to the dunes of Merzouga. Along the way you'll stop at the Tizi n Tichka pass, wander the earthen walls of Ksar Aït Benhaddou, and pass through Ouarzazate before reaching the Todra Gorges and Tinghir Oasis with a local guide. The route covers a wide stretch of eastern Morocco, from mountain passes to palm-lined valleys and finally the Sahara itself.

The centerpiece is Erg Chebbi, where you'll ride a camel into the dunes at sunset and spend the night at a desert camp under the stars. A second camel trek at sunrise the next morning gives you the dunes in a different light before the drive back toward Marrakech, with a lunch stop in Kelâat M'Gouna along the way. Transportation, entry tickets, accommodation, and most meals are included throughout.

It's a trip built around movement and landscape rather than a single sight, so you'll spend a fair amount of time on the road between stops. Each day is structured around a mix of short guided visits and longer scenic drives, with the desert camp as the trip's overnight highlight.

After pickup in Marrakech, the tour heads over the Tizi n Tichka pass for photos before continuing to Ksar Aït Benhaddou, where you'll spend around two hours exploring the ksar. From there it's on to Ouarzazate, with an optional stop at the Kasbah Taourirt, before overnighting in Boumalne Dades. Day two starts with a guided visit to the Tinghir Oasis and the Todra Gorges, followed by the drive to Merzouga and a sunset camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes, ending with dinner and an overnight stay at a desert camp.

On the final day, a sunrise camel ride back through the dunes kicks things off before the return journey to Marrakech, with a lunch stop in Kelâat M'Gouna along the way. The whole experience runs across three days and two nights, combining guided stops of 15 minutes to two hours with longer scenic drives, and ends with drop-off back in Marrakech.
