Ten Lakes Full-Day Lake District Tour from Windermere

This full-day tour takes you through one of England's most scenic regions, tracing a route across the Lake District from its southern valleys to the northern fells. Setting out from Windermere, you'll pass through mountain scenery shaped by ancient glaciers, with stops built in for photographs at viewpoints overlooking valleys, waterfalls and traditional Lakeland villages.

A highlight of the day is Castlerigg Stone Circle, a prehistoric monument set on a plateau with views toward some of the Lake District's highest peaks. The route also brings you to Grasmere, known for its Gingerbread shop, and to Keswick, a market town on the shores of Derwentwater where you'll stop for lunch — whether that's a classic pub meal or something from one of the town's smaller restaurants.

The day begins in Windermere, from where you'll travel north through the Lake District's changing scenery, with regular stops for photographs of valleys, waterfalls and mountain passes. One of the first major stops is Castlerigg Stone Circle, where you can walk among the ancient stones and take in views of the surrounding peaks before continuing on toward the northern fells.

Midway through the day, you'll arrive in Keswick, a market town on Derwentwater, for a lunch break at a pub or local restaurant. The tour also passes through Grasmere, giving you the chance to pick up the village's well-known gingerbread, before the route loops back through further Lakeland scenery, taking in ten lakes across the National Park before returning to Windermere.
