About this experience

Hong Island sits among a cluster of limestone formations in the Andaman Sea, reachable from Krabi by traditional longtail boat. This full-day tour starts with hotel pick-up and a transfer to Nopparat Thara Pier before you cross open water to the island's white sand beach and turquoise shallows. Once ashore, you'll have free time to swim or sunbathe before climbing to a viewpoint that looks out over the surrounding islands from every direction.

Lunch is a Thai-style buffet served on the beach, giving you a break before the afternoon's activities. Those who want to explore further can kayak from Hong Island's beach to the Hong Lagoon, a sheltered pool ringed by limestone cliffs. The boat then continues to Lading Island for swimming and snorkeling, and on to Daeng Island, where the reef is known for its reddish coral formations and resident marine life.

The day wraps up with a cruise back to the pier and a transfer to your hotel in Krabi. You can choose between speedboat or longtail boat transfer, both covering the Aonang zone, so pick whichever suits your pace for the crossing.

What to expect

Your day begins with pick-up from your hotel and a transfer to Nopparat Thara Pier, where you'll board a traditional longtail boat for the crossing to Hong Island. On arrival, there's free time on the beach to swim or relax before a hike up to the island's viewpoint, which opens up a 360-degree view over the surrounding islands. Back on the beach, a Thai-style buffet lunch is served before the afternoon continues with optional kayaking from the beach into the sheltered Hong Lagoon, walled in by limestone cliffs.

From there, the boat heads to Lading Island for a swim and some snorkeling in clear water, followed by Daeng Island, where the coral reef stands out for its reddish colour and marine life. As the afternoon winds down, you'll cruise back across the Andaman Sea to the pier and transfer back to your hotel, closing out a full day on the water around Krabi.

Things to note

  • Wear swimwear under your clothes and bring a change of dry clothes for the boat ride back
  • Pack reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses as most of the day is spent outdoors on open water and beaches
  • Bring cash for any personal snacks, drinks or souvenirs not included in the lunch
  • Wear sturdy sandals or water shoes for the walk up to the Hong Island viewpoint
  • Kayaking is a physical activity, so bring a dry bag for your phone or camera if you plan to take photos
  • The itinerary may be adjusted depending on weather and sea conditions on the day
