Loch Ness Cruise, Urquhart Castle & Outlander Tour from Inverness

This small-group day tour departs central Inverness and takes in some of the Scottish Highlands' best-known sights in a single outing. A 30-minute cruise on Loch Ness leads to Urquhart Castle, where you're free to explore the 13th-century ruins on foot before continuing to the town of Beauly for a lunch stop and a look at Beauly Priory, a location that appears in the Outlander novels.

The afternoon turns to Highland history that shaped the Outlander story. At Culloden Battlefield, you'll hear about the Jacobite rebellions and the battle fought there, before moving on to Clava Cairns to walk among the burial chambers and standing stones that inspired the show's time-travel stones. There's also the option to stop at a Highland whisky distillery along the way for a sample dram.

It's a full day out from Inverness that mixes scenery, folklore and genuine Highland history, returning to the city in the early evening.
