About this experience
Dubai's story runs from wind-tower houses to the world's tallest building, and this full-day tour covers the whole span with a local guide and an air-conditioned vehicle waiting between stops. It starts in the old city, where the heritage area of Bastakiya and the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood reveal a Dubai built from coral stone, gypsum, and palm wood, its narrow alleys and public squares dating back to the mid-19th century. From there, you'll cross Dubai Creek by traditional abra, or water taxi, landing in Deira to wander through the spice and gold souks.
The second half of the day moves into the city's modern landmarks. You'll pass the Jumeirah Mosque and the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, pause at Madinat Jumeirah Souk for tea or coffee, then continue to the man-made Palm Jumeirah island for a view of Atlantis The Palm and a visit to its aquarium. A stretch along Dubai Marina Walk, often compared to a mini Manhattan for its density of skyscrapers, leads into a drive down Sheikh Zayed Road toward Dubai Mall.
The day closes at Burj Khalifa, the 828-metre tower that's the tallest building on earth, with entrance included. Free time at Dubai Mall follows, timed so you can catch the dancing fountain show outside before your hotel drop-off. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Dubai are both included, along with entrance tickets to the attractions visited along the way.
What to expect
The tour begins with hotel pickup and a first glimpse of Dubai Creek before heading into the heritage district of Bastakiya, known for its wind-tower architecture. In the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, you'll walk among stone and palm-wood houses from the mid-19th century, then board a traditional abra to cross the creek into Deira, where the spice and gold souks fill the next stretch of the morning.
From there, the tour shifts to modern Dubai: the Jumeirah Mosque, the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, and a break for tea or coffee at Madinat Jumeirah Souk. A stop at Palm Jumeirah brings views of Atlantis The Palm and a visit to its aquarium, followed by a walk along Dubai Marina before the drive down Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Mall. The day ends with entry to Burj Khalifa and free time to watch the dancing fountain, before being dropped back at your hotel.
Things to note
- Wear comfortable shoes, as parts of the day involve walking through souks and historical alleys
- Dress modestly for the Jumeirah Mosque visit, covering shoulders and knees
- Bring sunglasses and sunscreen since some stops, like Palm Jumeirah, involve time outdoors
- The vehicle is air-conditioned, but temperatures can be high outside, so carry water
- Free time at Madinat Jumeirah Souk and Dubai Mall means having some cash on hand is useful
- This is a long day out at around 8 hours, so plan for an early pickup and late drop-off
