Chiang Mai Day Tour: Mon Jam, Elefin Farm, Wat Pha Lat & Doi Suthep

This full-day tour strings together five of the landscapes and landmarks surrounding Chiang Mai, starting high in the hills at Mon Jam. Here you'll find a cool ridgeline setting with terraced flower fields and open views across the Mae Rim valley, a world away from the city below. From there, the route continues to Elefin Farm & Cafe, where you can feed and interact with elephants in an open valley setting, followed by a walk through the Cypress Lanes, a pathway lined with tall, closely planted cypress trees.

As the day winds down, the tour heads to Wat Pha Lat, a forest temple built into the hillside near a small waterfall along what's known locally as the Monk's Trail. It's a quieter stop, tucked away from the busier temple circuits around Chiang Mai. The day finishes at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the mountaintop temple that overlooks the whole city. You'll climb the Naga staircase to reach the golden chedi, timed so you can see it lit up as evening sets in and the city lights below start to sparkle.

Across the day you'll move between mountain scenery, animal interaction, forest temple ruins, and one of northern Thailand's most recognizable religious sites, all without having to plan the logistics yourself.

The day begins with a scenic drive up into the hills to Mon Jam, where you can walk among flower fields and take in views over the Mae Rim valley before moving on to Elefin Farm & Cafe for a hands-on elephant feeding experience in a natural valley setting. From there, the tour continues to the Cypress Lanes, a short but photogenic walk beneath rows of tall trees, before heading toward the forested slopes near Wat Pha Lat.

At Wat Pha Lat, you'll explore a quiet temple built into the hillside next to a small waterfall, a contrast to the busier sites around the city. The tour concludes at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, where you'll climb the Naga staircase to the temple's golden chedi as the sun sets, staying to see the temple lit up and the city lights spread out below before heading back down the mountain.
