About this experience

Doi Inthanon National Park sits at 2,565 metres above sea level, earning its nickname as the "Roof of Thailand." This full-day tour takes you from Chiang Mai into the park's cool mountain air, with an English-speaking guide leading the way through some of the region's most striking scenery. You'll stand at the country's highest point, walk the Ang Ka Nature Trail through a moss-draped cloud forest, and visit the Twin Royal Pagodas, where mountaintop flower gardens frame views across the surrounding hills.

The day also brings you into contact with local life. A stop at a White Karen hill tribe village offers the chance to taste organic coffee grown in the surrounding valley, grown and brewed by the community itself. Later, the tour heads to Wachirathan Waterfall, one of the park's most powerful cascades, where the spray hits you well before you reach the viewpoint. It's a mix of nature, culture and a bit of altitude bragging rights, all within a single day trip.

Round-trip hotel transfers from Chiang Mai are included, so the logistics are handled from pickup to drop-off. The pace suits solo travelers and groups alike, moving between short walks, scenic stops and cultural encounters without ever feeling rushed.

What to expect

Your day begins with hotel pickup in Chiang Mai, followed by the drive up into Doi Inthanon National Park. Once inside the park, the guide leads you to the summit area, where you can stand at the country's highest point before setting off on the Ang Ka Nature Trail, an easy walk through cloud forest thick with moss and mist. From there, the tour moves to the Twin Royal Pagodas, where terraced flower gardens offer sweeping views over the mountains.

The afternoon shifts focus to culture and water. At a White Karen hill tribe village, you'll get a look at daily life in the highlands and a taste of coffee grown just steps from where it's brewed. The final stop is Wachirathan Waterfall, where the roar of falling water and rising spray make for a fitting close to the day before the drive back to Chiang Mai.

Things to note
- Pack a light jacket or layers, temperatures at the summit are noticeably cooler than in Chiang Mai city
- Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes for walking the nature trail and waterfall paths
- Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated across the full day
- Carry a small amount of cash if you'd like to buy coffee or snacks at the hill tribe village
- Bring a rain jacket or umbrella, as mountain weather can change quickly
- A camera is worth having on hand for the pagoda gardens and waterfall views
