About this experience
Grand Canyon Water Park sits inside a natural limestone canyon on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, where turquoise water and rock walls have been turned into one of the region's largest inflatable floating playgrounds. Spanning more than 35 acres, the park mixes the raw setting of the canyon with a full course of bouncy platforms, slides, and climbing obstacles laid out across the water.
What sets this water park apart from a standard pool day is the terrain itself. You'll jump from cliff platforms set 8 or 10 metres above the water, fly across a 400-metre zipline rigged with PEZL safety gear from the U.S.A., and drop down 10-metre giant sliders before bouncing back up on the jumping pillow. The canyon walls and green water give the whole setup a distinct, photogenic backdrop that's different from typical waterpark scenery.
Ticket options include entry with wakeboarding for adults, a version open to all travelers with wakeboarding included, and standard admission for non-Thai residents, with some options bundling round-trip transport by red truck from Chiang Mai. It's a half-day plan built around movement — climbing, jumping, sliding, and swimming — rather than lounging by a pool.
What to expect
Once inside, you'll make your way down into the canyon itself, where the inflatable course sits across the water framed by rock walls on either side. Most visitors start with the calmer floating platforms and jumping pillow before working up to the bigger challenges — the 10-metre giant sliders, the zipline run across 400 metres of open canyon, and the cliff jumping platforms at 8 and 10 metres for those ready to take the leap.
The pace is up to you: cycle between climbing back up for another zipline run, taking a break to swim in the canyon water, or queuing for another go on the slides. If your ticket includes wakeboarding, you'll get separate time on the water being pulled around the canyon on a board. The park opens at 10:00 AM and runs until 7:00 PM, giving enough time to work through the full course more than once.
Things to note
- Bring a change of clothes and a towel since you'll be in and around water most of the visit
- Wear swimwear you're comfortable moving in for climbing, jumping, and sliding
- Water shoes or sandals with grip help on the canyon's rock surfaces
- Apply reef-safe sunscreen and reapply through the day, as much of the park is uncovered
- Children must be at least 90 cm tall to enter, with different height brackets for child and adult admission
- Store valuables in a dry bag or locker if available, since most activities involve full water exposure
