From Brighton: Seven Sisters and South Downs Tour

This full-day tour takes you out of Brighton into the South Downs National Park, one of England's newest protected landscapes, and to the chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters. Travelling by air-conditioned minibus, you'll cover a stretch of rolling countryside shaped over centuries by farming and erosion, ending at the coastal viewpoints that make this stretch of Sussex so recognisable.

The route weaves together several distinct stops rather than just the cliffs themselves. Devil's Dyke, the largest dry valley in the UK, offers views stretching up to 30 miles across the Weald, while Middle Farm gives you a look at a working farm that's stayed in the same family for more than 200 years. You'll also pass the Longman of Wilmington, a Neolithic hillside carving, before reaching Seaford Head for views over the Seven Sisters' white cliffs.

The day builds toward a walk to the top of England's highest chalk cliff, standing at 530 feet, within Seven Sisters Country Park. It's a tour built around a mix of driving and walking through the South Downs, with a guide narrating the history and geology of the landscape along the way.

The day begins at a set pick-up point in Brighton, where you'll board an air-conditioned minibus with your guide. As you leave the city, the road climbs into the South Downs, giving you views of chalk hills shaped over thousands of years by grazing animals. The first proper stop is Devil's Dyke, where you can take in sweeping views over the lowland Weald and hear the story behind its name, before continuing on to Middle Farm for a break — or, if it's busy, the nearby village of Alfriston with its cafes and 14th-century pubs.

From there, the tour heads toward the coast, passing through quiet country lanes and stopping to view the Longman of Wilmington carved into the hillside. The final stretch takes you into Seven Sisters Country Park, where you'll walk up to the top of England's highest chalk cliff at 530 feet, then on to Seaford Head for the classic panorama of the Seven Sisters' white cliffs meeting the sea.
