About this experience
The dunes outside Abu Dhabi turn into a full evening of adventure and Arabian hospitality on this desert safari. It starts with a 4x4 dune-bashing session across the sand before you arrive at a Bedouin-style camp set up for the evening. Along the way there's a stop at a camel farm and time for photos against the vast desert landscape.
At the camp, you're welcomed with Arabic coffee, tea, dates and snacks like falafel with tahini sauce. From there, the evening opens up into a mix of activities: a short camel ride, sandboarding on the dunes, henna painting, and the chance to try on traditional Arabian dress. A falcon photo opportunity is also available, subject to availability.
As night falls, a BBQ buffet dinner is served under the stars, with live entertainment including belly dancing, tanoura dancing and a fire show. The evening winds down with shisha and stargazing in the quiet of the desert. You can book with either a private or shared hotel pickup, both included in the ticket.
What to expect
Your desert safari begins with pickup from your hotel in Abu Dhabi, either in a private or shared 4x4 vehicle. The drive out includes a dune-bashing session over the sand dunes, a stop for photos in the desert landscape, and a visit to a camel farm before reaching the Bedouin-style camp.
At the camp, you're greeted with Arabic coffee, tea, dates and snacks, then free to take a camel ride, try sandboarding, get a henna tattoo or dress in traditional Arabian attire. As evening sets in, a BBQ buffet dinner is served alongside live belly dancing, tanoura dancing and a fire show, with shisha and stargazing to close out the night before the return transfer to your hotel.
Things to note
- Wear closed-toe shoes for dune bashing and sandboarding
- Long pants are recommended for camel rides and sitting around the camp
